Get in touch about a bug, a wrong number, or a tool you wish existed. Including the text that caused the problem, and your browser, gets to an answer far faster.

WordCounter4U is maintained by a small team, and messages are read by the people who write the code. Bug reports and disagreements with our numbers are genuinely welcome; they are the fastest way the tools improve.

What to include

Because nothing you type is sent to us, we cannot look up what happened on your machine. A report that can be reproduced is a report that can be fixed, so please include:

  1. 1Which tool you were using, and what you expected to happen instead.
  2. 2A short sample of text that triggers it -- the smallest piece that still shows the problem.
  3. 3Your browser and operating system, and whether you were in light, dark or sepia mode.
  4. 4For export problems: which format, and whether the file failed to download or opened incorrectly.
  5. 5For the typing test: the duration, difficulty and category you had selected.

Things worth writing in about

  • A count or score that looks wrong -- tell us the number you expected and why.
  • A file that will not import, or an export that opens badly in Word, Docs or Pages.
  • Text in a language that the counter handles poorly.
  • A tool you keep wishing this site had.
  • Anything on the site that is hard to read, hard to reach by keyboard, or awkward with a screen reader.

What we cannot do

We cannot recover text you lost when a tab closed, because we never had a copy of it. We also cannot write, edit or proofread your document for you, and we do not offer paid support -- there is no paid tier to support.

Response times

Expect a few working days. Reproducible bug reports are prioritised over feature requests, and anything involving data loss or a security concern goes to the front of the queue.
