My grandfather has a small farm outside the village. It is not a big place, but there is always work to do.
He gets up before the sun. First he feeds the animals, then he checks the water, then he eats his breakfast.
In spring he plants the fields. In summer he watches the sky every day and worries about rain. In autumn comes the harvest, and the whole family helps.
Winter is quieter. He mends fences, repairs the roof, and reads in the evening.
He says that farming teaches you patience. You cannot make a plant grow faster by wanting it to grow faster. You can only prepare the ground, put the seed in, and wait.
I think about that advice often, and not only about plants.
