Introducing Your Country - C2

Good afternoon, everyone. I'm Ali — a twenty-six-year-old primary school teacher who grew up in London and has lived in Manchester for the past two years. I am from the United Kingdom, and, perhaps less obviously, I find the changeable weather is something outsiders always ask about. Beyond the immediately apparent, I am fond of British humour and how self-deprecating it is. At the same time, I love a proper Sunday roast, if only because the alternative rarely serves anyone well. What I find myself returning to, more than anything else, is that I think the countryside outside the big cities is underrated. If nothing else, I hope this makes clear that what defines me is less any isolated fact than how a country's small everyday habits often say more about it than its landmarks.
